Freddie the Fire Truck
Meet Freddie the Fire Truck
We are proud to announce Freddie the Fire Truck, the newest member of the Sonoma Valley Fire District’s Fire Prevention Team. Freddie is a fully animated robot fire truck from Robotronics, Inc., designed to teach children and community members about fire safety in an engaging, interactive way.

What Freddie Can Do
Freddie isn’t just a static display—he’s a tool built for education and interaction. Among his capabilities:
- He moves, speaks, listens, and can play MP3s and safety messages.
- He responds to children at their level, encouraging participation and retention of fire safety lessons.
- Freddie is used during school visits, community events, Fire Prevention Week, and other outreach efforts.
Why Freddie Matters
Fire safety education is most effective when it’s memorable. Freddie helps us:
- Make fire safety lessons more approachable for young children
- Reinforce prevention messages like escape planning, smoke alarm testing, and “stop, drop, and roll”
- Increase community awareness by creating a friendly, interactive ambassador for safety
How the Community Made It Possible
Freddie was made possible thanks to the Sonoma Valley Volunteer Firefighters Association, who fully funded his purchase. The Association raises money throughout the year to support your local fire department, and we encourage you to join us at our community fundraising events such as the Fourth of July Celebration, Mother’s Day Pancake Breakfast, our Annual Open House, and the Glen Ellen Village Fair.
Their ongoing commitment to giving back ensures that the Sonoma Valley Fire District can continue to expand fire prevention education and introduce innovative tools like Freddie to better serve our community.
What’s Next
- We will schedule Freddie at local elementary schools to help teach the fire safety curriculum.
- Freddie will be present at public events and Fire Prevention Week activities throughout the year.
- We encourage families to bring questions—Freddie and our Fire Prevention Team are here to help you understand what you can do to stay safe in case of fire emergencies.
